Voices of Diversity
Since the founding of the Progressive Media Project in 1993, we have dedicated ourselves to diversifying and democratizing the op-ed pages of the nation's newspapers, which are still overwhelmingly male and pale.
In 1996, with help from the Ford Foundation, we reconceptualized this part of our work as "Voices of Diversity." Each week, we send out an op-ed by an African American and by a Latino/a. And every month, we send out op-ed pieces by Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, persons with disabilities, LGBTs, and women.
If you're a newspaper editor who understands the need for bolstering the diversity in your paper, the Progressive Media Project can assist you in meeting this goal. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (608) 257-4626.
